LODGES are completely enclosed buildings with outdoor patios and grills. They are usually equipped with the following: kitchen area with stove, refrigerator, sink & countertops; indoor restrooms; a fireplace with some wood provided; folding tables and chairs; and picnic tables. All lodges are heated (except Wakema), but are NOT AIR-CONDITIONED. Reservations are required.
Lodges or shelters may be reserved up to one year in advance of the date of use. Making a reservation includes the payment of both the reservation fee and a refundable clean-up/damage deposit. You may request a reservation online, or contact our Conservation Headquarters.
SHELTERS are open-air facilities which provide picnic tables on a concrete floor. Each shelter has the following: electrical outlets (except White Oak) and pressurized water for drinking; pedestal stoves for grilling; picnic tables; and a nearby pit-vault restroom. Some shelters have serving counters, nearby horseshoe courts, playgrounds, and, possibly campsites. Reservations are required to ensure usage - if a shelter is not reserved, it may be utilized at no charge on a first-come, first served basis.
