The Friends organization was formed in order to promote and develop additional conservation areas and projects of benefit to county residents. The Friends operate as a 501 c(3) charitable organization. Donations to the Friends are tax deductible and all funds go directly to the specified project. Call (319) 892-6450 for more information.

Numerous gifts and donations are received each year from persons interested in conservation. Gifts include everything from money to purchase park equipment or trees to land and property donations. Many gifts are made in memory of a loved one who has passed away. Some gifts are received due to the donor's interest in conservation or past use of a particular park.

VOLUNTEERS make our day! From being a campground host, to assisting with our maintenance efforts or supporting our educational programs - volunteers are an essential part of how we can get done what we do! If you are looking for a group activity or an individual effort that is uniquely rewarding - consider joining the volunteer force that makes us tick!

Linn County participates in the Americorps Program as part of the 11 county Eastern Iowa Conservation Alliance. The program's motto "Getting Things Done" is quite evident in their work as they focus on habitat development, park maintenance, environmental education and volunteer coordination/recruitment. Members receive an annual wage, benefits and a financial educational award at then end of their service. For more information, contact our office.

The Legacy Tree Project is a special program, co-sponsored by the Linn County Conservation Board and Trees Forever. Its purpose is to plant specimen trees at the Morgan Creek Park Arboretum to celebrate the birth of a child, to honor friend or relative or to commemorate the memory of a loved one. Trees may also be planted elsewhere within the Linn County park system. Having your tree located in one of our areas will help to ensure that it is planted and nurtured by trained professionals.
