Linn County Conservation is pleased to offer over two dozen campgrounds, lodges, shelters and cabins for public use. While many of these facilities may be reserved, some are managed on a first-come, first-served basis. Following is a brief description of various facility types.

CABINS - Five overnight cabins are available at Pinicon Ridge Park and the Matsell Bridge Natural Area. Each cabin has different amenities ranging from the primitive, "hike in only" Red Oak Cabin at Matsell Bridge to the Pintail Cabin at Pinicon Ridge with two bedrooms, full kitchen, air conditioning, heat and a bathroom with shower. Reservations are required.

CAMPGROUNDS - Family campgrounds are managed on a first-come, first-served basis and provide sites for five or fewer people. Sites cannot be reserved. Camping fees are paid by self-registration in the campgrounds. In general, the camping season is from April 15th - October 15th. (River and ground conditions permitting.) Campground amenities vary from primitive to 50 amp electrical service, water hook-up and dump stations.

GROUP CAMPGROUNDS - These campgrounds are designed for groups of 6 people or more and must have a minimum of three camping units. Reservations are required. The group camp at Morgan Creek is managed as a "pack-in" facility only.

LODGES - These are completely enclosed buildings with outdoor patios and grills. They are usually equipped with the following: kitchen area with stove, refrigerator, sink and counter tops; indoor restrooms; a fireplace with some wood provided; and folding tables and chairs. Lodges are heated (except Wakema), but are NOT AIR CONDITIONED. Reservations are required.

SHELTERS - These are open-air facilities which provide picnic tables on a concrete floor. Each shelter has the following: electrical outlets (except White Oak) and pressurized water for drinking; pedestal stoves for grilling; and a nearby pit-vault restroom. Some shelters have serving counters, nearby horseshoe courts, playgrounds, and, possibly campgrounds. Reservations are required.

Making a reservation includes payment of both the reservation fee and a refundable clean-up/damage deposit. Reservations may be made up to one year in advance of the date of use. You may request a reservation online, or contact our Conservation Headquarters.
